Brant co-founded Slide UX and now serves as a strategic advisor to the partnership, drawing on more than 20 years of experience taking complex digital products from early concepts through polished, build-ready design.

On your project

Brant has been part of every Slide UX engagement since the firm’s first, in 2012, not always in the room, but in the thinking. The questions the team asks, the assumptions they check before building, the instinct to slow down at the right moment: that approach traces back to how Brant worked from day one, and it’s still how the firm operates.

That instinct shows up most in how the firm approaches handoffs. Design work that’s clean enough to move straight into development, with nothing lost in translation, isn’t an accident. It’s a standard Brant set early on, and one the team still holds itself to.

Why this work is personal

Brant has encountered cognitive change repeatedly across his life, starting in childhood with visits to his stepmother's grandma, who had Alzheimer's.

In college, he worked at one of the country's first post-acute brain injury rehabilitation centers, in a residential facility serving people from age 13 to 60. That job reframed how he understood cognitive challenges and made him aware of how many mental tasks the rest of us take for granted every day.

In the years after, dementia touched several more people close to him, including grandmothers on both sides of his family. Then his father-in-law was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's tied to a rare familial gene, and his wife Erin tested positive for the same mutation.

When he and Erin went looking for reliable, understandable information about what that meant for their family, they found most of it buried, clinical, or disconnected. That search is a large part of why Slide UX now focuses on reducing cognitive load.

Before Slide UX

Brant was a User Experience Designer at The Advisory Board Company / Crimson, where he designed drill-down dashboards that made medical practice management data actionable, working with a distributed Agile team.

Earlier, he led UI design and weekly A/B testing at SolarWinds, ran design and code for Golfsmith's club-making and tennis businesses, and spent three and a half years at National Instruments building global CMS templates and interactive product experiences across eight locales.

He holds a BS in Management/Marketing from Park University and an AAS in Visual Communication Design from Austin Community College.

Brant is one of the most user-focused, knowledgeable, and hard-working designers I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He has a very deep understanding of UX best practices, visual design, and information architecture.”
— Damon Damele, Director of Product Management at Crimson (The Advisory Board)

Outside of work

Brant spends time with his two sons, coaching youth soccer. He also supports his wife Erin’s personal advocacy work and helps care for loved ones navigating cognitive change, threads that run alongside the firm’s mission rather than separate from it.

When he’s not coaching or with family, he’s usually planning the next trip to the mountains, chasing cooler climates and a break from the Texas heat, or experimenting with new ways to use AI to make everyday life more efficient.
