UX Managing Director
Full-time. 40-hour work week.
Salary: $120,000 per year + benefits
Thoughtfully lead design with our award-winning UX Design Agency
We're Slide UX, an award-winning, client-focused, family-owned, fully-remote, user experience design consultancy. Our team helps clients deliver better user experiences through thoughtful user research and high-quality UI design. Along the way, we help shift organizational cultures to put the user at the center.
We're seeking a confident and flexible UX Managing Director with UI skills who wants to make a real impact on the Slide UX team and clients but is also not ready to put the mouse down. The right candidate is ready to guide our clients (product leaders) and a team of designers to produce world-class interface design (and along the way, great business strategy and results.) This person generates big, exciting ideas, but isn't too fancy to sweat the details (or to teach their reports how to do the same). One part designer extraordinaire, one part manager, one part up for whatever might come your way.
As a manager, you will:
Lead associate, mid-level, and senior UX designers so that they might progress their careers.
Partner with other Managing Directors to create a fun and nurturing environment that helps the team feel “plugged in” to a community and the organization.
Gather and communicate insights about your team’s individual experiences to help the Senior Leadership Team make better decisions.
Pay close attention to how things work at Slide UX, so that you can help answer questions and explain things to your team.
Speak up and share opinions, ideas, and concerns.
Uphold the company vision: strategy, process, and policy.
Maintain a focus on results.
Drive your team to discover their own potential by offering support as they tackle new challenges.
Pave a clear path for each member of your team, by setting clear expectations for personal development and overall work quality.
Help emerging designers learn and gain confidence in the fundamentals of both user interface and client interaction.
Help senior designers close the gap on any skills needed to level up.
Monitor resource availability and workload balancing.
Coordinate cross-team resource sharing and collaboration.
As a designer and design leader, you will:
Contribute to the continuous improvement of Slide UX systems by supporting the creation and maintenance of our process documentation, and upholding our standards.
Exhibit a practical, collaborative style. Usefulness, usability, effectiveness, ease of implementation, and ease of scale are all key client considerations regarding design decisions and you’ll make recommendations accordingly.
Be thorough in your work and expectations. (For example, thinking through all the states and interactions of an experience or guiding your teammates to do so.)
See pixel-perfection as an important and valuable part of the design process, but remain flexible when pace prohibits perfection.
Listen actively to clients, teammates, and your fellow leaders. Take a professional, peer-to-peer approach to interacting with clients.
Look for ways to drive efficiency and re-use internal processes.
Be interested in developing new skills and willing to try new things.

About Slide UX
Slide UX is not a “web design” or “marketing” agency. In fact, we’re not a traditional agency at all.
When we opened our doors in 2012, UX was not yet a buzzword. Since back then, we’ve been laser-focused on creating great user experiences. We believe that a good UX design practice includes integrated business strategy, user research, UI design, and cross-functional collaboration. Designers and teams who can understand a business, untangle its complexities, and facilitate helpful conversations will be preferred to those who focus on pure creative, trends, or specific technology.
That’s why we aim to develop well-rounded design talent. We’re looking for the type of designer and manager who is comfortable sitting at the table with sophisticated C-level leaders and confidently explain objective trade-offs and rationale behind recommendations.
Good-looking user interfaces are table stakes, but at Slide UX, we are continuously refining unique, fast-paced methods that help our clients establish great user experiences while cultivating good UX fundamentals, setting them up to succeed beyond our project.
